You Were Born

Your Were Born by Cloud Cult is on of my favorite songs of all time. It really sums up a lot of how I feel about my sweet Sophia! Enjoy!

Stretchmarks are beautiful!

A friend of mine on facebook posted this and I think it is beautiful and true. This is truly how I feel about my stretch marks. They may not be pretty to you but they represent so much to me and because of that they are beautiful!

Talking Sophia

The past few weeks Sophia has really been talking a lot! She is really getting a lot of different sounds out and it really excites her. I also have noticed if I make a sound or move my mouth she will try to copy my action. I tried to get it on video and here is what happened. Once she noticed the camera all she wanted to do was stare at it hahaha.

Going Green!

Ricky and I have been busy around the house. Since we moved here we have been wanting to plan a garden so badly and now we finally have the room to do it. We decided the best option for us would be to make a box/grid garden. We got recycled wooden palates that Ricky stapled weed liner around. Then it was off to buy some plants and soil. We filled the garden with soil and planted our little baby plants and seeds. In our garden we have tomatoes, squash, zucchini, red yellow and green pepper, 3 different types of lettuce, spinach, cucumber, basil, cilantro, thyme, and parsley. Our garden has really taken off for the most part. 2 of our lettuce didnt come in that well so we are going to replant those. Otherwise everything else is looking great!
This is how it started before the plants

With some plants

This is our garden now!
To go along with our garden we really wanted to start composting but didnt really know too much about it. Over Earth Day there was a festival in the park that had some going green workshops and one of the workshops was about composting. We got a lot of valuable information and decided we would give it a try. Composting is great because it reduces the amount of trash you throw away and it makes great soil for your garden! We got an old plastic barrel and Ricky drilled holes in it. We threw in some soil and our browns(dry leaves, sticks, dry grass etc) and greens(grass, leaves leftover veggies from the kitchen etc) with a little water and mixed it up. We hope to have 2 compost up an running so that way we have somewhere to put our waste while the other is decomposing but we as of now we only have one up and running. This is what it looks like. We are also going to paint it to make it a little more eye catching.
Its the black tub on cinder blocks with wood over it to keep the heat in.
While we were at the Earth Day festival we saw something really cool. It was a big flower pot made out of a tire. We thought that was a great way to use something that most people throw away so we thought we would give it a try. Ricky did all of this with a little help from our friend Dustin. First he got a tire with the rim on (you dont need the rim if you dont want but we like the look). Then he cut into the tire and and made decorative petals. Once he cut it Ricky and Dustin flipped it inside out. This was really hard to do and it took them awhile and it took some work but it turned out great! We are going to paint this too and I like it so much I want Ricky to make me another one! :)

Strawberry Festival

Ricky and I love strawberries so when we heard there was going to be a Strawberry festival at a farm not too far from here we decided we would love to go! We had a ton of fun! We listened to some music, picked our own berries (which Ricky wasted no time in eating!) watched a little gun show (fake guns of course!) and we watched some pigs race! It was a fun little Saturday afternoon that we will have to repeat again next year.

What a real strawberry looks like

This is what Sophia did while we picked berries

We each picked a pig-my pig won woot woot!

Already a sore loser hahaha jk but hers did beat daddy!

Sophia's First Swim!

Over Easter we went to my parents house in Tampa. It was Sophia's first road trip (ill write about that later!) and first time in Tampa. One of my favorite things to do there is to go swimming in their pool. Ever since we had Sophia I have been wanting to take her swimming so badly so of course it was one of the first things we did! Daddy was our photographer :)
Sophia chillin in her daisy bikini!

Swimming with Uncle Bryce and Mommy

Sophia loves her Uncle Bryce, she stares at him whenever hes around!

Marley and Ringo wanted to play too!

Sophia loved the pool! She will be our future Olympian! Gold medal in swimming is in her future!

Meeting More Family :)

Ricky's mom, grandma, sister, and nephew came into town recently to meet Sophia for the first time. They all live in Northern Virginia near Washington D.C so we do not get to see them very often. We had a wonderful visit with them and I'm so happy that they got to finally meet Sophia!

Splish Splash

Sophia's favorite thing to do is to take a bath! Every time she is in the tub she smiles and talks up a storm. Recently she has started splashing around but im pretty sure its still unintentional. Either way its really stinking cute!

peaceful sleep

Don't you wish you could sleep this peacefully! I absolutely adore her snoring!!!
